Greg Bass did not plan to become a home builder. After college he worked for Carolina Power and Light.
In 1975 he joined the family real estate and construction business. He dug a footing his first day on the job and he truly learned, from the ground up, every aspect of the home building business. In the 1970's and 1980's there were not many home building companies in Fayetteville and it was not uncommon for him to build as many as 250 homes in a year! In 1981 he moved his family to Texas where he worked in commercial/industrial construction for two years.

In 1999 he formed Bass Built Homes, Inc. with his wife Debra. Together they have built a company that is unique. Greg builds on average 10 homes a year, concentrating on quality. He designs the homes, with Debra's input, and draws the floor plans in a manner that best utilizes dimensional lumber for the framing process. Because he draws the floor plans, he is able to modify plans for the individual buyer.

Buyers usually first meet Greg on the job site and think he is a subcontractor. His truck is full of tools and grass has been seen growing in the floor of his truck! At any time, he will be found sweeping out the homes, laying ceramic tile, installing interior trim, building garage steps, installing oak handrails, and has been known to repair a dishwasher. Most people do not realize that Greg is a carpenter. His work shop at home has every power tool he might need. He builds the fireplace profiles, custom shelving and other specialized features for the homes in his shop.

Greg is also quite the computer programmer. He wrote a material list program to use when ordering supplies for the homes. He also wrote a job cost projection program so he will know how much a home will cost to build before he builds it.

Greg and Debra take great pride in providing a quality product and build each home as if they were going to live in it. The majority of their presale/custom buyers are referrals from previous buyers and that is the best thankyou for any builder!
